Hello everyone! The MTC is still amazing haha but I only have a week and a half until I hop on a bullet train to Malaga and find out where my first area is. I hope it is Seville because I don’t want to have to be there when it is 120 degrees in the summer! My Spanish is so bad! I’m still waiting for the gift of tongues to kick in! Sundays are my favorite here in the MTC because it is just amazing devotional after amazing devotional. My new district is really cool and I’m glad that I am in here. We got to go to the temple this morning again. Every time I go it gets better and better. Every day we get an hour of sports time and I play soccer every time and I am getting a lot better and it is always really fun.
So this week at the park was sooooo awesome. My companion this week was Elder Holman who is from Salt Lake City. I used to run past his house all the time and we only lived a mile apart witch is crazy. He is a really outgoing talkative guy and I learn a lot from him. His Spanish is really good. We talked to so many people! We had so many contacts. So we first got on the Metro and we started talking to this lady standing up and we told her about the Book of Mormon and shared Moronis promise and she was very interested and filled out a referral so it was an amazing start. But when we got to the park we were not really clicking as a team so we stopped and said a prayer which really helped. He had a different way of talking to people then I had been doing so we kind of combined our two methods and it worked really well. One experience witch was amazing for me is that we went up to a homeless (I think they were) people and showed them the Book of Mormon and they got really excited. They loved the picture and they were asking a lot of questions. I felt prompted to ask to pray with them which was weird because we don’t ever do that so I asked them and they were really excited. So I started the prayer and they were repeating what I was saying so I stopped and said only me and they laughed and then I said the prayer. it was so amazing my broken Spanish prayer brought the Spirit so quick and after they were silent in shock and then I bore my testimony and I felt prompted to give them my Metro ticket that still had 5 trips left (which was how many of them there were (tender mercy)) and invited them to come to church and they were really excited and said they would. The amazing part is on Sunday the next day I was looking out of or 5th story window on our classroom which is by the church which just got let out and I saw the family there outside the church it was so amazing to bring joy to these peoples lives that probably didn’t have much because they are homeless. Then we left them and moved on and Elder Holman said he felt like there is somewhere he should be but he didn’t know where so we said another prayer and where guided by the Spirit to this family from Ecuador on vacation here and he started talking to the dad and he was very interested and one of his little daughters was loving it too. He took a Book of Mormon and said that he would read it. There are so many great experiences from that day I can’t share them all but another one is that we were talking to a group of people and they weren’t interested and walked away but after a group of Asian tourists came up to us and asked us what we were about and they didn’t speak Spanish and they know almost no English so we gave them an English Book of Mormon and a pass-along card with the church website and said go here when you get home and look up the missionaries there and they said they would which was awesome. The park was so great this week and the MTC broke our record again!! We got 47 referrals!! From 35 to 47 which was awesome!! We also broke the MTC record for Book of Mormons handed out which was 101!! I English, Spanish, Russian and Portuguese. My and Elder Holeman did amazing and handed out 14 BofM and got two referrals but it is not about numbers it is about people because they are the most important thing. The Lord blessed us so much. One of my good friends Elder Adcock had a bad experience where he was bible bashed in Spanish for 1 hour and 15 mins and they were saying all these horrible things to him about our church and he just came back crying because of the evil things they said and it just made my grateful not only that I don’t know enough Spanish to understand what they were saying but grateful that we had a good day.
The native Russian district left on Monday which was sad for everyone but then we got a district of Italians who are going to Italy who are very cool.
I’m so tired all the time here because the days are so fun it takes everything in my power to stay awake in class! Today we are having an apostle come give a devotional to us so we had our Pday on Tuesday and we were able to go to the Prada art museum which was really awesome. Then we went into a Catholic cathedral. The Catholic churches here are amazing and beautiful!!!
