Hello everyone!! There are more hoidays here in Spain right now with lots of fireworks and gunshots everywhere it is crazy I dont even now what they are celebrating anymore.. I thing they just want an excuse to be drunk. Spain is the country with the most holidays in the world. Another fact I found out this week was that 88,000 people die a year here from smoking which is so crazy and sad. It's just culture here they all start at 13 and don't stop till their dead (or baptized) It makes me sad seeing the little kids all smoke but it's just how there raised. Also as it is getting hotter and hotter the shorts are getting shorter and shorter but they can't get any shorter then they are now so I'm not sure what they will all do in August.
This week I had a really eye opening experience. We were eating at a members house named Denis and we have been teaching his sister Esperanza and she has a really sad life. She smokes so much and can't stop no matter how hard she tries and she live in a really beaten down apartment with no kitchen and really bad living condition. Also with a man who is really mean and neither of them can get job so they have to rob for food and she has to take care of two little girls because their mom is in prison and they have no where to go also her daughter is living with an abusive man. Its like one of those situations you see on TV but never thought anything about them. They are real. And it is scary. But we were eating at Denis' house and someone knocks on his door and so he goes and answers it but then comes back to the kitchen shuts the door and goes back and talks to who it is. After waiting and waiting and waiting for about 45 mins I open the door and there Esperanza is and she looks horrible. She was just released from the hospital and she was all beat up. She had bruises everywhere and a black eye and some teeth knocked out it was horrible. She told us the story how her boyfriend got mad and beat her till she had to go to the hospital and she was release but had nowhere to go. I have never felt so sad in my life. I know its against the rules but I gave her a hug. i felt so bad and didn't know what to do, She feels really close to us. This was the most eye opening experience of my life and I will never forget it.
Yesterday we went to a YSA devotional from a member of the 70 (can't remember who) and it was really good! But it was about marrage so that was a little weird for us missionaries haha but it was still really good :)
Anyway I love being a missionary so much it is the best job in the whole world and if you're not a missionary and are reading this go out and serve a mission! It will be the best choice you will make. Not only will it be the best two years of your life but it will also be the best two years for your life!!
Love you all and thanks for the letters and emails!
Above are pictures with my amazing mission president and his wife who are going home at the end of the month and my amazing Zone leaders who I love so much and look up to and learn a lot from. They are the best misisonaries I know.
