Hello everyone!! It has been an awesome second week in the field! I found out why when I got here we didn’t have any investigators and it is because the guy that I replaced it was his last transfer in the mission so I think he kind of gave up so now I am here to clean up the mess. But it is all good because I like to find people and that what we have been doing all day every day. This coming week we have a lot of appointments with people so that is promising. Today I bought 12 liters of milk for 5 euros because milk is super cheap here. They also have drinkable yogurt which is nectar from heaven and crust less bread which I bought just to try it.
Saturday we had a really awesome experience with this lady who lives in the really ghetto part of town with all the Gypsies she is sisters of a recent convert and has been getting lessons for a long time. Everyone in Spain lives in really small apartments by the way there are no houses. So we went up there and she was smoking in her house (everyone in Spain smokes) and the room was filled with smoke (I’m used to the smell pretty much) and we started talking and she told us how bad she wanted to stop smoking and just started pouring her heart out to us of how she smokes weed and has to steal food from other people and all this bad stuff she does and how she feels like she had done too much to repent. We shared some of Alma 7 with her and told her that Christ knows what she is going through and has experienced the same things and can help her. The spirit was really strong there (even though the room was filled with smoke) and challenged her to read the Book of Mormon whenever she feels like she wants to smoke and it will help her, She committed to doing that and I’m hoping it helps.
People open up to you so much as a missionary.
We met this 18 year old guy on the Tram and he made an appointment with us and I was a little hesitant because usually kids just like to be punks but we went and the lesson went really well. We started out asking about his religious background and just everything about him. He told us he grew up Catholic but a year ago his parents kicked him out of the house and he left the church and he just kept going and didn’t say why. So we started teaching the first lesson and about the restoration and he stopped us and told us that he is gay and that is why his parents kicked him out and that he really wants a relationship with God but feels like he can’t because he is gay. We were kind of in shock so we just kind finished the lesson and told him about the Book of Mormon and invited him to read it and to meet with us next weekend. He loved the book and told us that he was going to have the whole thing read by next weekend which is a lot but we will see. We have a recent convert who my companion baptized who is gay so we are going to bring him to our next lesson.
Being here and seeing these people and hearing there story is so amazing. It also amazing to know that I have something that can help them through their problems if they will let me and I so excited to see people’s lives change through the gospel because I know that it will and their lives will be better.
We have a tri zone conference tomorrow and we are getting up early and getting on a bus to go and see everyone in our area. I’m excited to see my friends from the MTC again!
We also found this girl on the bus and were talking to her (I always have to talk to the strangers because my companion is too shy haha) and we started talking about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith and I was able to recite the first vision and whenever you do that the spirit is so strong and there is no way to deny that you feel something and during the whole time we were talking to her she was saying how much she liked it and she kept saying muy fuerte which means very strong. She was so golden. The bus drove by a Catholic church and she did the little Catholic cross prayer thing so we know that might be a problem. She also told us her mom was very Catholic. So she gave us her number and said to call her at the end of the week because she wanted to meet with us this weekend so we were so excited all week about her and then we call her and she says she had never heard of us before so we text her later and she said the same thing. This is soooo sad she was soo golden and we guess that her mother told her not to talk to us again.
The first week here went by really slow but this week has been going by so fast! I love the members here and I like going to their houses for dinner and trying to talk with them.
I know I say this every week but send me letters please! I love them
